I don't quite share his egg enthusiasm but I'm very happy to pop an egg on top of a select few dinners to make him a very happy chappy.
One of the 'IT NEEDS AN EGG' meals would be the homemade beef burger.
This tip will show you how to make a perfectly neat and round egg that will sit on top of your burger and not fall out.
You will need:
One egg
Some butter for greasing
A round cookie or scone cutter....(hmmmm must try other shapes for the wee one)A non stick frying pan
Small saucepan lid
Method:
Heat up the frying pan to medium heat
Using your finger spread a thin layer of butter on the inside of the smooth side of the cookie cutter
Pop the cutter on the pan and crack an egg into its centre
Cover the cutter with the lid of a saucepan to ensure the top of the egg cooks
Cook for 5-7 mins or longer depending on how you like your yolk
Remove from the heat and slide a spatula under the cutter and egg
Pop on top of your burger and slide off the cutter revealing a perfect egg!!!
Ta-daaaaaa...
